Unlike many doula programs that are crammed into one weekend, The Intuitive Doula Program offers you the opportunity to absorb the information at your own pace. I'm enjoying the IDT a great deal. I was drawn to the program because I wanted a course of study that recognized the central role that intuition can play in supporting women as they prepare for labor and birth. The philosophy articulated on the website was intelligent and empowering for women. I also felt it was important that this was a course designed by a midwife and her assistant. The reading list is fantastic and the assignments are thorough in their scope and result in the trainees getting a wide range of highly practical doula experience and in understanding their role from many different vantage points in the birthing community.

Recently I was looking for a doula training program to enhance my skills as a childbirth educator and traditionally trained doula. My only formal doula training was over twenty years ago and I felt the need to bring some new life into my practice. I looked for a program that honored the timeless tradition of utilizing ones intuition, combined with the latest medical and scientific facts. It was also important to me that the program be designed by a midwife with practical experience. I knew when I found I.D. that I had found the best program for me. The director and co-director have been an encouragement all along. As a single mom, the flexibliity of the program allows me to take care of my family first. The reading assignments are from reliable, solid books and the writing assignments are clearly layed out. I also appreciate the well designed documentation templates which have truly helped me keep more consistent records. I feel like the Intuitive Doula program has been everything I needed to improve my skills as a birth worker.

Intuitive Doula has led me down an incredible path of knowledge not only on the subject of being a doula but about my own life as well. I have gained so much confidence in myself as a woman, a mother and a member of my community. It has been an honor to be a part of women's births and essentially a part of their growing family. When I began this course in 2007, I had no idea how wonderful it was. It teaches that to be a doula, you don't need fancy equipment, or a well stocked doula bag. The most important thing is what you already have: Love, intuition, helping hands, and a desire to help women. The education you get is incomparable, and for much less than most other doula courses. Intuitive Doula Training course encourages you to research and educate yourself and the mothers you will serve. The instructors and staff are absolutely wonderful and very very accommodating. Making this a perfect course for those who have children. They are great on answering questions and helping you finish this course. I very highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in becoming a doula!
